The Business Enterprise Fund believes that it is important to fill the funding gap for those who are unable to draw on the main sources of funds for one reason or another. If no-one is prepared to take a risk, then we will lose the potential of creative and talented individuals. That's why we took the decision to set up the Fund. With backing from the Government and the unique involvement of our business mentors and buddies, we are offering a package of support, based on debt finance, to help create successful businesses across West and North Yorkshire. The Fund is investing in the future of business in the region and that's a risk worth taking. We can also assist in efforts to raise finance from conventional sources.

However, we can only help companies who can start trading, generate sales and make loan repayments straight after they receive a loan from us. Also, we cannot fund past debts, even if they were incurred in developing the business, and the money has to be used solely to run and develop the business, rather than to support someone’s lifestyle. This doesn’t mean that we cannot work with businesses that have had or have equity funding, of course.
