The purpose of the executive summary publication and investment forum presentation is publicity. Assume that neither is confidential and pitch your content accordingly. Make sure that you do not make any false or misleading claims, or breach anyone else’s confidentiality. To do so would be improper and could get both you and we in trouble. It is a condition of your presenting that you will indemnify us against the consequences of any such trouble.
Our charge of £50 is purely to cover the administration costs of publishing your executive summary on the YABA extranet. Our charge of £125 is purely to cover the administration costs of presenting your opportunity at one of our investment forums and providing an entry in the related event programme. Completion of the YABA investment application form registers you to present your business proposal at an investment forum. Whether we include your presentation in the next or any subsequent event is at our sole discretion.
Cancellation policy: 50% of the foum presentation fee is payable for cancellation within 10 working days of the event. 100% of the forum presentation fee is payble for cancellation within 5 working days of the event.
We accept no other responsibility to you. If you do present, the result in terms of opportunities and follow-up is entirely up to your abilities and efforts. Naturally (but we want to leave no room for doubt) we take no responsibility whatsoever for the success of your venture.
Our function is merely to facilitate your introduction to members and guest. You may then get talking to members and in the nature of things they may give you advice. Some of that advice will be useful, some not, some completely inappropriate. Please remember that these individuals who are seeking to engage with you are not advising in a professional capacity. They have not made a methodical assessment of our business and they are not acting as paid, professional advisors. You have no claim against them for the consequences of your relying on any inappropriate advice and must indemnify us and our members against any such claim.
Prospective business mentors and Non-executive Directors (NED) may approach you direct by email or phone following your request for a mentor or NED and if the discussion goes well you can arrange a meeting. As an entrepreneur the decision to select a mentor or NED is entirely yours and Yorkshire Association of Business Angels (YABA) stipulates that these mentors and NED's act as individuals and are not recommended by YABA. They may act on a voluntary basis or may negotiate payment ranging from simply covering their expenses to an hourly or daily rate.
