Freight Transported by Angel

Action-packed, edge-of-the-seat and set in Leeds, the new indpendent British film Freight opens in cinemas in Spring 2010 - and YABA member Adam Moger helped make it happen.

After seeing producer Luke Aikman present at an Investment Forum in September 2008 and receiving further information about the proposition, Adam was impressed both by Freight’s management team and the sales company already on board.

The team had invested their own money, so I knew that they were confident of its success,” says Adam. “With some well-known cast members in mind for the film and the way the investment was structured, I expected it to be a safe investment – and that’s exactly how it’s turned out.”

Adam doesn’t make a habit of investing in the arts; his former job was trading shares on the internet. “It’s not my area of expertise, but this wasn’t the sort of investment where I needed to be hands-on,” says Adam. “As an investor, I received regular email updates on the film’s production progress and its sales and distribution, which was all the information I needed.”
Freight’s director, Stuart St Paul, worked in radio and TV for a number of years as a presenter and actor, before moving into film as a stunt arranger and then director. He is currently working on finalising Freight’s score with composer Mark Blackledge.

“We’re just putting the finishing touches to the music now. The test screenings were very well received and we’re all looking forward to the film’s general release,” he says. “For independent films to be a success, it’s extremely important that we have investors like Adam on board. The British film industry has some great talent but financial backing for commercial films is hard to find. Films funded by The Lottery and TV companies dominate our industry here, so in order to make gritty, hard-edged films we need private investment from the likes of business angels.”
