CO2Sense Funding Assistance for Renewables
Businesses from across the Yorkshire and Humber region have the opportunity to access £3m of new funding from not-for-profit organisation CO2Sense. The funding will be available to help businesses to develop a range of low-carbon initiatives, including renewable electricity generation, supplying or using carbon-neutral woodfuel for heating, or for developing products, services and processes that will help to reduce carbon emissions. The low carbon sector in Yorkshire and the Humber is estimated to grow to £2.8bn by 2016. CO2Sense helps low carbon businesses and projects to grow and is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
A financial package will be developed between the business and CO2Sense, and payments made back to CO2Sense once the project is making profits. Andrew Hartley, programme director at CO2Sense, said: “Yorkshire has some significant opportunities to develop low carbon businesses and projects that can make a big impact on reducing carbon emissions and the impacts of climate change.
"With this funding, we hope to give businesses the resources that they need to grow, increase jobs and attract private investment."
