Fan Frames Is Streets Ahead

Hull based eyewear company Fan Frames Ltd was the winner of a mock investment forum run by Yorkshire Association of Business Angels (YABA) and Hull-based Streets Chartered Accountants.

Following a slightly different format to a full YABA investment forum, four of the region's entrepreneurs, Muddy Boot Foods, Antyx Animations, Ed's Toyland and Fan Frames - delivered their investment opportunities to a panel of experienced business professionals and business angel members.

The prize awarded to Fan Frames included £1000 worth of business support services and a bottle of champagne, kindly donated by co hosts and event sponsors Streets Chartered Accountants. "We really enjoyed the experience," says Fanframes Director Paul Gibson. "It was the first time we have done a pitch like that and we were obviously really pleased to win the prize. The event was also a fantastic networking opportunity, we met a number of potential investors and we're in discussion with some of them now."

Fan Frames is based at The Enterprise Centre in Hull. The company specialises in sports branded eyewear; optical frames, sun, reading and 3D glasses. Set up in February 2011, the company owns the licencing rights for eleven UK football clubs including Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle Utd, Hull City AFC, Manchester Utd, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton, Nottingham Forrest, Arsenal and Chelsea.

In total, the the 'Dragon's Den'-style mock investment forum event attracted an audience of more than 40 entrepreneurs and professional advisors.

"We were really pleased with the success of the event," says Streets Chartered Accountants' Marketing Partner James Pinchbeck. "One of our interests is stimulating enterprise in the area, and knowing how difficult it can be to raise finance in the current economic climate these kind of events are invaluable. We're already planning a full Investment Forum with YABA to coincide with Hull Business Week in June 2012."
